Mass Effect Legendary Edition is free for members of Amazon’s Prime Gaming service this week. It is one of six games offered by the e-commerce giant:who has foughtdespite investing billions in various projects, to produce an acclaimed game own: for Prime Day, their annual ritual about bleeding to death at the altar of capitalism. They join about two dozen other games that Amazon introduced last month as a Prime Day promotion.
Every year, Amazon runs a series of promotions called Prime Day, meant to spur you to spend money on products you might not otherwise have looked at twice. In other words, like our friends in life hacker NoteUnless you approach the process carefully and methodically, shopping on Prime Day won’t really save you money in the long run. But between the lines, there’s the occasional solid offer, especially when it’s priced at $0. Mass Effect Legendary Edition, a bundled 4K re-release of BioWare’s landmark trilogy of space RPGs, is the biggest. Amazon is also giving away the racing games. Beyond the traveling space operas and two uniquely competent racing games, Amazon is also giving away a handful of under-the-radar titles, including the excellent co-op puzzler. death squared and two entries of the classic wrestling series. king of fighters. The problem with all of this is that you have to sign up for Prime Gaming, which costs $15 a month and includes all the stuff, like streaming service and “free” shipping, that you get with Amazon-Prime. (You get access to Prime Gaming at no extra cost with a standard Prime membership; they’re… basically the same thing.)
