Mass Effect Legendary Edition is free for members of Amazon’s Prime Gaming service this week. It is one of six games offered by the e-commerce giant:who has foughtdespite investing billions in various projects, to produce an acclaimed game own: for Prime Day, their annual ritual about bleeding to death at the altar of capitalism. They join about two dozen other games that Amazon introduced last month as a Prime Day promotion.

Every year, Amazon runs a series of promotions called Prime Day, meant to spur you to spend money on products you might not otherwise have looked at twice. In other words, like our friends in life hacker NoteUnless you approach the process carefully and methodically, shopping on Prime Day won’t really save you money in the long run. But between the lines, there’s the occasional solid offer, especially when it’s priced at $0. (Of the offers that do have a price attached, our colleagues in The inventory you’ll be monitoring to see what’s really worth it.)

Mass Effect Legendary Edition, a bundled 4K re-release of BioWare’s landmark trilogy of space RPGs, is the biggest. Amazon is also giving away the racing games. Grid Legends Y Need for heat speedtogether with three Star Wars games: the fantastic squad shooter Republic Commandand two entries from the Jedi Knight action Game Series, Outcast Jedi Y Jedi Academy. Amazon it means to the act of claiming these games as “freeloading” (what fun). You can pick them up tomorrow and Wednesday.

Beyond the traveling space operas and two uniquely competent racing games, Amazon is also giving away a handful of under-the-radar titles, including the excellent co-op puzzler. death squared and two entries of the classic wrestling series. king of fighters. (You get access to Prime Gaming at no extra cost with a standard Prime membership; they’re… basically the same thing.) Amazon says the games are yours to keep “forever.” This is where I point out that you can sign up for a free 30-day trial.
