High-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 GPUs get more discounts, mid-range models not so much

Another week, another price drop, but only for some models.

Retailers are clearly getting rid of the higher-end GeForce RTX 30 models. Unfortunately, this is not the case with the mid-range and entry-level SKUs. NVIDIA was expected to announce price cuts for the RTX 30 series in mid-July, but unfortunately that didn’t happen either, at least not officially. Instead, we had ‘unofficial’ price cuts from retailers and board partners (such as EVGA) selling cards at exactly the rumored discounted prices.

Fast-forward 10 days, and now we have even lower prices. For example, the RTX 3090 Ti, which had already dropped from $2,000 to $1,500, is now selling for $1,450, another $50 in just 10 days. This is based on Newegg’s lowest price (new items only).

The same price cut applies to the RTX 3090, which is now available at $1,250. More importantly, there’s an even bigger discount for MSI’s RTX 3080 Ti Ventus. With mail-in rebate, the card can be purchased for 900 dollarsthat is 200 USD cheaper in just 10 days.

Granted, that’s a local discount for just one store, but it shows a clear trend that should eventually be seen from other companies. After looking at the MSRPs, the mid-July price discounts mentioned by Benchlife, and the current prices from Newegg, we can immediately see that only the higher-end models get sizable discounts very quickly, but the mid-range and low-end SKUs still They are above the MSRP.

Just a few months ago, no one would think that the RTX 3090 would sell for so low. But just this week, the RTX 3090 dropped to $999 at a retailer and this deal was available for at least two days.

As we get closer to September/October, there will be many such offers appearing at different retailers, especially for the high-end series that will be replaced first. NVIDIA’s plans list the RTX 4090 as the first next-gen model to be released, so naturally there will be pressure to sell as many RTX3090Ti/3090 cards as possible first.
