Here at Nintendo Life, we’re fans of game titles that are so weird you can’t help but laugh, and we think the next release from D-Pad Studio may just take the cake. The development team behind the awesome 2018 pixel platformer, owl boy, is back with, are you ready for this one? — Vikings on trampolines! Yes, you read that right, they are Vikings and they are on trampolines.

Towards the end of last month, the studio shared a tweet claiming that they would be revealing their new game at this year’s Gamescom, but today’s trailer reveals (de IGN) suggests that the event will be solely for a playable demo.

The trailer shows that the game is as comedic as you’d expect with a title like that. You’ll play as a team of Vikings tasked with taking down enemies in the air, all from the safety of a ring of stretchy canvas. Think Dreamworks’ bout How to Train Your Dragonbut replace the dragons with trampolines and you’re basically there.

Expect plenty of cooperative gameplay as you team up with your friends and get into the bounce brawl. The trailer promises absolutely everything you can think of; You can cause mayhem in solo play alone, or you can join in multiplayer mayhem with up to 4 players, so your gang of horned-helmeted homies better be ready to get some air.

The game was teased about 11 years ago (thanks, destructoid), and fans of the developer’s previous game are eager to find out how this turns out. Take a look at some screenshots from the gameplay trailer below:

As we hope the images above will show, D-Pad continues the stunning pixel art visuals of Owlboy in this upcoming release. This was a feature that became one of the driving forces behind our love for the previous game and will no doubt be a draw again this time around.

Unfortunately, the studio has yet to comment on whether the game will release on Switch, with Vikings on Trampolines currently slated for PC only. However, we realize it’s still early days for the D-Pad follow-up and based on Owlboy’s success on the eShop, we’d be surprised if these Vikings don’t take the same path.

Expect us to get more information about the game at this year’s Gamescom.
